Meet the Team

MATT TREINEN

OWNER & FOUNDER

Matt's love of working in the dirt started early when he would dig with my toy excavators, skid-steers and dump trucks in an empty lot next to his parents house. Matt later studied and obtained a degree in Landscape Architecture and Horticulture from Montana State University. As a Montana native he later decided that recreating natural landscapes and features was the perfect job, which resulted in the creation Montana Rock Quarries and MT General Contracting. Matt’s goal is to provide a personalized landscape featuring one of a kind rocks and water features that speak to the client. When Matt isn’t excavating at the quarries or installing a landscape, he loves to ski, mountain bike, fly fish, hunt and travel depending on the season. You will almost always find Matt’s favorite adventure buddy, Tikka, by his side.

DAN TREINEN

SALES & TRANSPORTATION MANAGER

Dan ended up as Montana Rock Quarries first team member when he retired to Bozeman to join his children after a career in the grain industry. Dan has never met a stranger, he loves to meet new people and grow new relationships; in fact his relationships with farmers and ranchers are how Montana Rock Quarries have found and developed each of the quarries. If you want to see some of our projects in person, Dan’s house was actually built by Matt and the MT General Contracting team, and his yard is an excellent showcase of the quality of stone Montana Rock Quarries provides. When Dan isn’t working you can find him working in his garden (he is a master gardener, and grew up on a farm), or traveling with his wife of over 40 years, Cheryl.
